Farmers Market Cocktail Season FTW

May 22, 2017

Yesterday was the opening of my neighborhood market and I picked up some beautiful rhubarb and also some fantastic sweet tea liqueur from Portland's local Thomas & Sons Distillery

. Their tea-based small batch spirits are terrific; they are so perfect for summer cocktails. Um, I sampled almost all of them at their booth <hiccup>. Maybe well before noon <shhhh>.
Chixology Farmers Market #1
Chopped rhubarb
1/2 lemon
1.5 oz gin
2 oz sweet tea liqueur (Townshend's Tea Spirit No 2 if I'm being specific)
1-2 dashes rose water
Couple dashes angostura bitters
Soda water
The fun of farmers market cocktails is just throwing stuff together until it tastes good, but here is the gist. Muddle the rhubarb and lemon with the gin. Let it sit for a few minutes to soak up the rhubarb color and flavor. Add the liqueur/rose water/bitters, double strain and top with soda water.
