Alaskan Apple Pie

March 12, 2017

The age-old question:  Can you make a cocktail that tastes like apple pie?  The answer is YES.  The secret is in fat-washing.  If you've not heard of fat-washing alcohol, do some googling and your head will explode.  I figured out the way to get that buttery goodness of pie crust was through butter washing vodka and implementing it with a few ingredients.  My good friend from Alaska gifted me with some apple cinnamon shrub and so... a pie was born.

Alaskan Apple Pie
-------------------
2 oz butter washed vodka
.75 oz apple cinnamon shrub
.5 oz lemon juice
.5 oz salted simple syrup
3-4 drops vanilla extract*
-------------------
Shake with ice; strain.

* Pro-tip: swap out the vanilla extract for cinnamon and it tastes just like a cinnamon roll!
