A Photo Inspired by The Great Gatsby

June 22, 2017

I love the synchronicity of the creative process. Being a huge Art Deco fan, I fell in love with the Gran Centenario tequila bottle immediately. It gives me a Baz Luhrman Gatsby vibe, and I rewatched the scene in the film where Nick first meets Gatsby with the dark blue night and the fireworks and thought: yes, THAT. I have some cool fiber optic Christmas lights that I thought would illicit the same feeling as fireworks, without giving me the opportunity to drunkenly blow off my digits (👍). I thought about a prohibition era cocktail to complement the bottle and decided I would do a tequila Daisy, since Daisy is Gatsby's love interest. So I googled the drink and learned that the Spanish translation of margarita is "daisy!!" Don't ask me how I've made it through my boozy life and gallons of margs without ever knowing that until now.
